I am wondering where everyone is at and how your summers are going? There used to be more chatting on here so I'm creating a new thread in hopes of generating some new chatter amongst the group!
I suppose it's only fair that I start, right? Well, summer is passing by quickly, as usual, but that is okay because I am really looking forward to our vacation the week of Labor Day in the Outer Banks (NC). This past weekend we took a mini-vacation, visited with some friends and family out of town and then spent a day at a theme park. The rides were fun but my favorite part was the water park. They never had these in theme parks when I was growing up so it was a new experience for me and I loved it!
Has anyone else done anything fun this summer or have something about your summer to share?

Doesn't seem to be much going here lately does it?
Sometimes I think we should just eliminate the message board all together..
anyway, I hear the Outer Banks is a really nice place although I have never been there.

Shannon, I'm happy someone else wants the message board to continue and have more chatter! 
My husband and I had a wonderful summer. Our kids are on their own now, and we've saved for years for a once-in-a-lifetime vacation. June 12 we left home and drove west to visit our kids. We took our time, stopped when something looked interesting, and visited family and friends along the way. States we visited were IN, IL, MO, OK, TX, NM, AZ, CA, OR, WA, MT, ID, WY, MN, and WI. We spent a week with each of our children, which was the best time of our trip. Other highlights were the Grand Canyon, Glacier National Park, Yellowstone and Grand Tetons, and driving the Pacific Coast Highway. We met many, many wonderful people and marveled at many glorious sights. We were gone 44 days and drove 7,054 miles. This country of ours is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!
Your family/friends trip sounds like fun, and I agree with you about water parks. Hope you enjoy your trip to the Outer Banks.

Hi Everybody,
I just registered and haven't quite figured out how to upload pics and avatars and such. Shannon and Luci - sounds like you are having wonderful summers. We are "retired" and this summer my hubby and I took an Alaskan cruise. Had a grand time. Luci, you are right - these United States are just beautiful. We are staying busy landscaping the yard and looking forward to planning our next cruise.

Ann: I am hoping at some point I can talk my hubby into an Alaskan cruise as well. He definitely is interested in the Alaska part but is not too keen on cruises (he is a big and tall guy). I, on the otherhand, have loved the two cruises I have been on!
Our trip is drawing closer and it could not come fast enough. My job has been very stressful over the last several weeks and I am certain that when my vacation arrives I will be more than ready to go!!
